Special Thanks to Larry Lewis of The Downtown Partnership for an informative and enlightening presentation at the October 21 HCSA Crime Prevention Meeting. HCSA members were provided with valuable tips on robbery awareness, prevention and response. Representing a cross-section of our membership from retailers and business owners to religious and educational institutions, attendees were able to address their specific security concerns. As a result of this meeting, some of the members are interested in forming some sort of neighborhood watch program. If you would like to get involved with this effort, please contact michele@charlesstreet.net.
Important Roadwork Announcement!
Roadwork begins early November on the 300 block of Charles Street. Trigen is replacing the steam pipe, and expects the project to take three months. Of the three lanes on Charles, the east lane will be totally closed off by a jersey wall from Saratoga to Pleasant. Essentially, there will be only one lane open for most of the day. The west lane will still be available for parking, except for the hours between 4 and 6pm to allow for two traffic lanes open for evening rush hour. Signs placed south of the roadwork will direct motorists. Due to the jersey wall, pedestrians will not be able to cross Charles Street in the middle of the block. All businesses on both sides of the street will remain open during this time!
